tbphp approaches derma pen development in four phases. Phase one is specification review. We walk through every parameter: motor type linear or rotary, needle depth range 0 to 3mm typical, speed settings in RPM, battery capacity in mAh, handpiece weight target, cartridge interface design, and sterilization method for the reusable handpiece. Each parameter is documented in a product specification sheet that both parties sign off before tooling begins. Phase two is prototype. A functional prototype is produced with 3D-printed housing and off-the-shelf motor components. This prototype is used to validate the needle depth accuracy, vibration level, noise level at full speed, and battery runtime under continuous load. Phase three is tooling. Injection molds for the housing, PCB assembly for the control board, and custom motor winding if required. Tooling typically takes 8 to 12 weeks depending on the complexity of the handpiece geometry. Phase four is production validation. First articles are tested against the specification sheet. Needle depth accuracy must be within ±0.1mm at every setting. Battery runtime must meet the specified minimum. Vibration at the handpiece must not exceed the agreed threshold.
