Battery and Charging Options for OEM Electric Microneedling Pens

One OEM buyer we worked with requested a microneedling pen that could accept both standard luer-lock syringes and proprietary needle cartridges. They wanted to offer their customers flexibility. The dual-interface design required a custom hub assembly that added 12 weeks to the development timeline. The buyer decided to launch with cartridge-only first and add the luer-lock adapter as a version 2. This is a common pattern in microneedling pen OEM. Start with a focused specification, validate the market, then expand the product line.

Needle depth adjustment is the primary feature that differentiates derma pen devices in the market. Three adjustment mechanisms are commonly used in OEM production. The first is mechanical collet adjustment. The user loosens a collar, slides the needle cartridge holder to the desired depth mark, and tightens the collar. This is the simplest mechanism, lowest cost to manufacture, and most reliable over time. The second is screw-thread continuous adjustment. A threaded ring at the front of the handpiece advances or retracts the cartridge holder in small increments. This allows fine depth control but adds moving parts that require tighter manufacturing tolerances. The third is electronic adjustment with a digital display. The user sets depth via buttons on the handpiece, and the device moves the cartridge holder using a micro-motor. This allows the most precise control and can store presets for different treatment protocols. The trade-off is higher unit cost and more potential failure points in the electronics. tbphp produces devices with all three mechanisms. The recommendation depends on the target price point and the expected technical sophistication of the end user. A distributor selling to home users may prefer collet adjustment for its simplicity and reliability. A clinic brand may prefer digital adjustment for protocol consistency across multiple practitioners.

OEM manufacturing partnerships in the microneedling space are built on documented quality, not on samples that are hand-selected to pass inspection. The factories that can produce complete technical files, share real production data, and commit to SPC-based quality systems are the ones that will still be supplying your brand when regulatory scrutiny increases.
